LAKE of the WOODS MUSEUM COLOURING CONTEST – For Our Younger Artists

In celebration of the artistry of Walter J. Phillips, the Museum is sponsoring a colouring contest for children ages up to 5, ages 6-9, and ages 10-12 using a colouring page from one of local artist Irene McCuaig’s Inglenook studio colouring books.

Contest Information:

Kids up to and including age 12 are welcome to enter. To enter, print a copy of the colouring page from the website www.lakeofthewoodsmuseum.ca , email a photo clearly showing Irene McCuaig’s Lake of the Woods colouring page coloured by your child as well as your child’s name and age to museum@kmts.ca. Printed copies of the colouring page are available at the Museum.

Entries must be received by May 27, 2017. 

Entries will be assessed in the following age groups:

  1. Up to age 5
  2. Ages 6 to 9
  3. Ages 10 to 12

One (1) winner will be chosen from each age group, and will win History of Canada colouring & activity books, one each of Irene McCuaig’s colouring books, a set of colouring pencils, an Arterro craft kit and 2 guest passes to the Museum. Winners will be contacted by email.

The winning drawings will be posted on the Lake of the Woods Museum’s Facebook page and Website along with the child’s first name and age unless otherwise requested.

About the Artist:

Irene McCuaig has been active in the Arts Community in Kenora since moving back to the city in 1978. She currently serves on the Board of the Lake of the Woods Arts Community and chairs meetings of the Lake of the Woods Centre for the Arts Organization.

As a practicing artist herself, Irene enjoys sharing her skills through art classes. She holds a Specialist Certificate in Visual Arts Education and has studied art at Cambrian College in Sudbury and Ontario College of Art in Toronto. She frequently participates in art workshops at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and has taken workshops from prominent artists in England, France, Italy, Canada and the United States.

She is presently managing Inglenook Studio which offers art classes in various disciplines and from various instructors to many age groups.

Irene’s colouring books are available in the Lake of the Woods Museum gift shop as well as several other retailers in Kenora.
